The Journey
Morgan Hunt
The blazing sun
Cast few shadows
Of many tomorrows
Forbearing promises
Of water…or life itself
Ma & Pa convey
With a sense of knowing
Though I question
Their better judgment
But, have no clue myself
The hot golden sand
Surrounds us
A dry ocean
Absorbing us deeper
Than we realized
Faith strikes through
We reach the Oasis
A shot of relief
For all the Caravans
We stop…
The beauty
Has us paralyzed.
We stand in a daze
Not noticing the sun beating down
Or the rough gritty sand
For we are indulging in the moment
This is why we strived
Long strenuous walks
Parched throats
Blistering feet
Just to be upon the Oasis
Fertile green land
Shimmering blue water
Makes the journey worth while
