So This Is Nantucket…
Sandy pavement, hot with sun
Mends with tired cobblestones
Empty fields filled with restless grass
Reach to its wide beaches
Her arms stretch out
Soft yet grainy; a holder of many footsteps
Speckled with pearls
And held by green ribbons
So this is Nantucket; midst of August
Strolling through the heart of town
Making your way to the oasis
Meeting happy faces all around
You feel like that; you feel like
Sharing many laughs, like stopping
To rest your thoughts, like letting
Your problems go out with the tide
Sweet scent of Rosa Ragusa
Mellows your mood
So you no longer feel
Anger against those many tourists
Instead you feel like sharing a smile
For peace is plentiful
Problems are few
And the sunshine warm
